Whoever said a kiss is just a kiss must have never been kissed the right way or by the right person, or maybe was a man. According to a study done by New York University involving over a thousand students, kissing is much more important to women than it is to men.
Women used kissing as a means to size up potential partners whereas men mostly used it as a means to gain sex. The study also revealed that men were more willing to have sex with someone without kissing them, to have sex with someone they aren’t really attracted to, and would have sex with someone they considered bad at kissing. For women, kissing was much more important and used as a bonding tool. Women in long term relationships stated kissing was very important and more so as the relationship progressed.
Okay, so now we know just how important kissing is to women, but does a great kisser have the ability to get you into bed? According to a book written by Cindy Meston and David Buss titled “Why Women Have Sex” kissing is one of the most important factors in determining whether sex would occur or not. The authors wrote that for women, kissing is an “emotional litmus test”. They collected data from 1006 women from 46 states, 8 provinces in Canada, 3 European countries, Australia, New Zealand, Israel, and China. The women studied came from various ethnic, religious, non-religious, and socioeconomic statuses. 93 percent of these women stated they were exclusively heterosexual and about 80 percent said they were in relationships at the time they shared their information.
According to the authors, kissing was just a part of the decision making process. The other factors that came into play were the man’s personality, sense of humor, self confidence, and status. Still I’m wondering if a man has all of the qualities you’re looking for, is it easier for him to get you in the sack if he can knock your socks off with amazing kissing skills?
