This volume is a “must read” for all clinicians and forensic professionals interested in evaluating the sexual problems of their clients. It provides important knowledge for researchers on sexual preference disorders as well as other medical professionals.

However, this book doesn’t add the most recent information on the psychiatric treatment for these problems.

This book would have to be the best book I have ever read on sex crime. It contains detailed chapters on paraphilias/fetishes (both criminal and non criminal) as well as chapters on sex crimes such as child molestation, incest, stalking, rape, etc.. Each chapter has been researched in great detail and provides very interesting information.

The book has been divided into a number of sections

PART 1 : UNDERSTANDING SEX CRIME

PART 2 : PROSTITUTION/PORNOGRAPHY

PART 3 : PARAPHILLIA

PART 4 : BODY FLUIDS

PART 5 : FETISHES

PART 6 : DANGEROUS PARAPHILIA

PART 7 : CHILD MOLESTATION

PART 8 : STALKING/RAPE/MURDER

PART 9 : TREATING SEX OFFENDERS/COMMUNITY ATTITUDES

As you can see it is rather varied, giving a very broard overview of sex crimes – from the fetishes that are non criminal to the ones that are, to the minor fetishes/paraphilia which can lead to serious sex crime, to how to possibly treat sex offenders. Each part has a number of chapters. Although some of the chapters on fetishes/paraphilia are not criminal they are still very important and interesting.

If you are after an informative book on sex crime I reccomend this book. It is rather large and I found it very interesting. I have completed 4 years of Criminology at University and this book would have to be one of the best Criminology books I have read. I reccomend this book to any professionals working with sex offenders, anyone who is involved with criminology or has a strong interest in criminology (like myself), or anyone who just has an interest in sex crime. If you want the definitive book on sex crime then this is the book!

I am interested to hear what other people think of this book! I would be especially interested to hear from professionals (psychologists, community correction workers etc..) on what they think of this book.
