The info is complete, but I could really do without the preachy Christian world view.

Having said that, if you are a devout Christian and a frustrated with having you beliefs undermined, then this is the book for you. Good knowlege, and solid writing.

For Everyone Else: a better pick would be:
Where Do Babies Come From?: For Ages 6 to 8 and Parents (Learning About Sex Series, Bk. 2)
by Ruth S. Hummel,

Both books are solid picks for Public and School Libraries, dependant on your service area

I purchased this book, for my 9 year old daughter. We have talked about body parts, what her body does, and will do, as it grows, and having babies, since she’s been little. I thought a book might just reinforce what we have said, and get her ready for the next step of turning into a tween.

However, after reading this book myself, it went straight into the trash. I felt “dirty” after I read it, much worse than a R rated movie. Everything was in VERY expicit terms. Not at all a Christian book. To be fair, a couple of the pages were well worded, and to be honest, they could have written a very good book with what they had going. The pictures were pretty good, showed enough, but with “brush strokes” so it was still modest enough (at least the first 3/4 of the book was, I didn’t even finish it before it went in the can) to show a child.

Even if the explicit terms didn’t bother you, we are VERY avid readers, but this book is long, drawn out, and booring. After the first couple pages, I was wondering how it could ever hold a 9 year olds attention, much less a 5 year olds.

If you’re thinking of purchasing this, I would really suggest finging a copy to look at first, so you don’t have to waste the money like I did.

An excellent introductory for telling young children about God’s design for sex in a marriage setting.

I bought this book for my daughter and it was a great way to introduce discussion about sexuality. It really brought it all together and I hope it will lead to further discussion and a life time of open and honest dialogue. Building a firm foundation may help keep her on the straight and narrow through her teen years!
