The original content of this book would probably have fit in a few pages. Either the author has a vivid imagination or is simply on an ego trip. Women deserve more substance. The “women” presented here have little in common with most of us.

I truly believed this book would be liberating,in that it would mostly be a text about physical sex, but as I read it,it seemed to have the same undercurrent of generalizations about women’s sexuality and that old and should be dead romance dribble played heavily into the body of the of book,soul or spirit,it was not much different than any other book and it ranted on about spiritual connection and emotion.Women need more to work with than this,to get themselves free of societal constraints.

The other goes on and on too much about the process of research and is very repetitive about how her discoveries were so different than the traditional orgasm-centric view of most researchers. Its gets old. I wanted to just hear the stories and I felt frustrated, unable to access the info I wanted and needed. I think the book would have been better with less of the author’s narrative about sex research. Too be honest, I can’t even finish the book. Maybe when I’ve adjusted my expectations I will enjoy it more.

In my training towards becoming a certified sex therapist I have read countless books and this has proven to be one of my favorites. It was a relief to read a book that isn’t simply a “how to” or written to “fix” something looked at as some sort of dysfunction. The format Ogden uses of storytelling really invites the reader to let go of any preconceived notions and just think about sexuality in new and healthy ways. You feel like you are in the room with her listening to each woman’s sacred story. Whether you can relate to each story becomes less important than simply experiencing compassion for them and that spreads to feeling compassion towards yourself. You finish the book feeling a sense of wholeness incorporating ideas and experiences that you previously didn’t recognize as being part of our sexuality. I understand this is one of Gina’s earlier books and I’ve read several, as they get better and better. I was fortunate enough to attend a weekend workshop with Ms.Ogden that was life changing. Her rare wisdom and skill in working with women is something that should not be missed!

Women Who Love Sex is a wonderful book not only for women but also for the men who love to have sex with us. I read this book because I thought that there was something wrong with me. Admittedly as a post op transexual woman I have so very much to learn. What I learned from Dr. Ogden’s book is that there is nothing wrong at all. Rather I am like so many other women who love sex in a very heathy, satisfying way.
