This is not an objective view of the Process Church of the Final Judgement; it is a sentimental memoir by a former member and, in fact, kind of boring. (At least in the beginning, which is where I am). If you’re expecting something like “Helter Skelter,” you’ll be sorely disappointed

Great text from the perspective of Wyllie; however there are numerous typos throughout. For example, how can the editor overlook such a typo as Sister Beth calling the Process- “The Profess” (163)? Wyllie’s experience, though fascinating and quite the page turner, dominates over a third of the text leaving the reader longing for more experiences on behalf of the others – their stories and recollections besides Mason’s are rather scant. As the reader passes through GPO’s take on the Process and his own Temple of Psychick Youth, the book becomes more of an afterthought with imagery pulled from Process magazines and publications. However, granted these minor quibbles, this text is engrossing and fascinating.

Timothy Wyllie tells the tale if the infamous Process church. As I recall he denies any connection with Manson. He admits that the group was more or less under the control of a very dominating attractive con women. On one hand an eerie mysterious group on the other a sea of dupes. They seemed to at times hung around with famous fringe celebrities. They were allays seen with large groups of huge German Shepperd dogs. A weird read in any case. It is very hard to tell if the group were harmless dupes of Satanist. In any case this is a good book to buy for someone who is stuck in a cult. A must for the researcher of the strange.

Cults are strange things, and with a little fame, they catch on fast. “Love, Sex, Fear, Death: The Inside Story of the Process Church of the Final Judgment” is an inside account of one of the most notorious and famous cults of the 1960s, the Process Church, which gained celebrity membership, nationwide coverage, and members around the world. With plenty of propaganda posters, personal stories from members, and more, “Love, Sex, Fear, Death” is a treasure for any reader who is fascinated by cults.

I was never a member of The Process or The Foundation Faith, but I am the person who spent two years working side-by-side with Father Micah/Tim Wyllie. He helped me define myself during a time when, as a sensitive and a healer, I felt out of place in the Universe. I love that Timothy humanized The Foundation and made real his personal involvement, as well as his desire to grow spiritually while helping others to find their place in the world. I applaud his honesty.
